Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi was scheduled to visit Armenia prior to the helicopter accident.
Alen Simonyan, the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, made this statement.
"As you are aware, the Iranian president was scheduled to pay his next visit to Armenia. We sincerely apologize for what happened. Both the president and the head of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been involved in the region," he stated.
It should be noted that Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi was supposed to attend the road opening ceremony in Zangezur on May 19 (the day of the helicopter accident - ed.), but he cancelled his visit at the last minute.
However, the spokesperson for Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied this news for unknown reasons.
