Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated, "What they mean by negotiation is surrender. Iran negotiated in good faith, but the other side failed to fulfill its commitments and withdrew from the 2015 nuclear agreement. Why should we trust them?”
He claimed that the American proposals for negotiations were dishonest.
Foreign Minister Ali Khamenei repeated his statement on the negotiations, claiming that they had previously held discussions on the nuclear program for two years with no results.
Araghchi stated that he intends to increase pressure on Iran with the proposals put forward by the US for the new stage of negotiations.
It should be noted that Abbas Araghchi and other members of the Pezeshkian government have previously stated that negotiations with the US are possible.
However, following Ali Khamenei's statement on February 8 that negotiations with the United States were pointless and that Pezeshkian's team had forbidden them, these individuals began to take opposing positions on the matter.
