Mai Sato, the UN Special Rapporteur on Iran, said the war had worsened the human rights situation inside the country, with protesters being branded as agents of hostile nations and executions continuing throughout the conflict.
In a post on X on Friday, Sato stated that the conflict had not eased repression but had instead made it more severe.
“What these reports have in common is impunity,” she said, referring to three recent UN reports examining human rights conditions in Iran.
Sato said she was not aware of any investigations by Iranian authorities into killings carried out by Iranian forces. She also noted that neither the United States nor Israel had released findings from investigations into their respective attacks.
