All schools in the province of East Azerbaijan, including Tabriz, have been closed due to air pollution and a dust storm that has spread to the northwest of the country.
This was reported by the Crisis Management Center of the provincial governor.
Due to air pollution, it has also been decided to hold classes virtually in Urmia and Zanjan. At 427 micrograms per cubic meter, Tabriz's air pollution is currently hazardous for people of all ages.
A critical air pollution situation is indicated by an indicator of more than 200 micrograms/cubic meter. Calculations show that an air pollution index between 0 and 50 micrograms/cubic meter is clean, between 50 and 100 is healthy, between 100 and 150 is unhealthy and dangerous for sensitive age groups, and between 150 and 200 is unhealthy for all age groups.
